Boulder Open Space Conservancy reports fundraising gains and projects, sets $100,000 goal

BOSC said it has given nearly $300,000 to Open Space and Mountain Parks projects since its founding in 2017, including a $75,000 contribution presented to staff earlier in the year. BOSC’s executive director described program pillars—climate and ecosystem resilience, connecting youth with nature, and responsible recreation and infrastructure—and outlined fundraising tactics such as direct mail postcards in neighborhoods near Sanitas, special events, partnership campaigns (including Film Festival and Taco Fest participation), flightseeing tours for major donors, and a Maddie Lignell legacy fund supporting junior rangers.
BOSC set a $100,000 fundraising goal for the year and said early returns from a postcard mailing were positive ($15,000 donated to date) and that staff and trustees could work with BOSC to develop clearer project menus for donors. Trustees asked about restricted gifts and whether BOSC can direct funds to specified projects; BOSC and staff said restricted gifts are accepted but vetted to ensure alignment with departmental priorities.
Trustees commended BOSC’s progress and encouraged ambitious donor storytelling to attract larger gifts; BOSC asked trustees for continued engagement and ideas to expand philanthropic support.
