CTA staff and the chief technology officer explained Oracle has been in use since 2001, that the procurement is competitive because resellers exist, and that CTA is evaluating modernization options (Oracle Fusion cloud and other products) while managing important customizations tied to payroll and collective‑bargaining rules.
Board action: the committee voted to place the ordinances and contracts on the omnibus; the full board later approved the omnibus by roll call. Staff said they will return with contract details and an explanation of funding allocations for safety and alternative service pilot expansions.
