The Adair County Board of Supervisors voted April 8 to set a public hearing on a petition to vacate a portion of 115th Street, approving Resolution #2026-27 and scheduling the hearing for 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in the board room at the Adair County Courthouse in Greenfield.
County Engineer Nick Kauffman filed the memorandum requesting action to vacate "that portion of '115th Street'" established April 3, 1877, described by survey as beginning at the northeast corner of the southeast quarter of Section 9 and running west along that quarter9s north line for 2,099.81 feet. The resolution cites Iowa Code Chapter 306 as the statutory authority for a road vacation and directs publication and notice consistent with state law.
The motion to approve Resolution #2026-27 was moved by Baier and seconded by Wedemeyer and carried on a roll-call vote: Christoffersen, Wedemeyer, Baier, Hoadley and Walker voting aye. The public hearing will provide an opportunity for property owners and other interested parties to comment before the board takes any final action.
The hearing is set for April 22 at 9:15 a.m.; any materials filed in support of or opposed to the vacation will be part of the public record at that meeting.
