Chino Hills issues multiple proclamations, highlights Public Works open house and upcoming community events

The Chino Hills City Council used part of its meeting to recognize several community organizations and city departments with proclamations.
The council proclaimed the week of May 20 as National Public Works Week and invited Public Works staff to the podium. Leticia Medina, an administrative assistant in Public Works, thanked the council and announced a Public Works open house scheduled the following day from 3:30–5:30 p.m. across from the farmers market on Shops Drive, where staff will showcase division equipment and services. Public Works Director Mr. Bovedia also thanked staff for their work.
The council proclaimed May as National Police Week and the Police Department accepted the recognition; Police Chief Gerard (speaker 9) honored two San Bernardino County deputies who died in the past year and thanked the community for support. The council also proclaimed May 17–23 as National Emergency Medical Services Week and recognized May as Trauma Awareness and Wildfire Awareness Month; Fire Chief Williams (speaker 10) accepted the proclamation and described the department as an "all‑risk" organization handling fire, EMS and hazmat calls.
Sapna Patel (speaker 17) used the public‑comment period to invite the community to a BAPS temple celebration — described as an "America's block party" with music, food and a daylight sound show on July 3–4 — and asked the city to consider partnering with the event. City leaders encouraged residents to register block parties and noted a federal commission website listing local events.
Keoni Cummings (speaker 11) accepted a proclamation for Mental Health Awareness Month on behalf of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), described NAMI's peer‑led services and resources available locally, and thanked the council for supporting mental‑health outreach.
No formal council action was required for the proclamations; the items were presented to acknowledge departmental service and community programming.
