Commission adopts wording change to rename Greens Grove entry to Huntington Heritage Complex; schedules public hearing

Huntington planning staff presented two edits to the general plan and the commission voted to accept the wording changes and proceed to public hearings.
Staff (Speaker 7) said the plan language that previously referred to "Greens Grove" will be updated to read "Huntington Heritage Complex," referring to the rodeo grounds and associated recreation area. The map entry was revised from a proposed disc-golf and walking-trail designation to language that supports development of the Huntington Heritage Complex for recreation and nature use, which staff said will better support grant applications. "We've now updated that to our Huntington Heritage Complex," Speaker 7 said while outlining the edits.
Commissioners voted to accept the wording as written and directed staff to schedule the public hearings required for the general-plan amendment and the subdivision item if the council approves the soil-report exemption.
Next steps: staff will publish the proposed changes for public hearing and then forward any adopted changes to city council.
