Superintendent: job fair improved staffing but bus-garage water-main break may limit access before school starts

"We anticipate beginning the year as close to full staffing as we have in many, many years as a result of it," the superintendent said.
He also reported a setback in the district bond work: "We do have one setback that we are working to address right now ... we've had a water-main break issue at the bus garage, a gas line that needs to be removed," which will prevent full access to the bus-garage parking lot before the first day of school. The superintendent said district staff are assembling a contingency plan that will use other parts of the district to house the fleet until repairs are complete and that he will communicate timelines to parents and staff when more information is available.
The superintendent reminded the board that transportation delays are common in the first week of school while routes settle and asked for "patience, deep breath, grace" from staff and families. He also referenced an earlier bond PowerPoint presented to the board and invited members to the district opening day ceremony on August 21, with breakfast at 7 a.m. and brief remarks at 7:30 a.m.
Board members asked no substantive follow-up on the record; the superintendent said further repair details and scheduling information would be provided via email to the board and to the broader parent community as available.
