The city manager announced the upcoming launch of a MyMonterey Gov smartphone app that will let residents submit service requests, attach photos and receive status updates. "It allows you to do business with the city... potholes, a dead deer on the street, a street light out, graffiti," he told listeners.
He said the app was quietly tested for six to eight weeks and will be available in the Google and Apple app stores; city staff will continue to refine features over the next weeks and months. The manager encouraged residents to use the app to report issues the city might not notice otherwise.
Separately, the manager urged the public to complete the local coastal plan survey posted on the city website. He said the city hopes to have an approved local coastal plan in place by the coastal commission by the end of next year to reduce permitting delays; he warned other planning priorities, such as the housing subplans required by the California Department of Housing and Community Development, can push timelines.
The manager also briefly promoted First Night Monterey and local holiday events, thanking volunteers for organizing programming downtown.
