Several council members noted they have received many constituent emails regarding a county purchase of a nearby facility and requests for town halls. Council members explained they cannot hold a city town hall on a facility outside the city's municipal limits because they lack jurisdiction and cannot answer many operational questions; staff reiterated the parcel is within the municipal growth area (MRGA) and is currently served, but permitting for occupancy, plumbing and fire protection will involve county and state agencies, including the state fire marshal and MDE local offices.
Council members said they were satisfied that the water department had clarified the city's obligations and processes for allocation and service upgrades and reiterated that they will forward questions to county administrators when appropriate.
