Durant approves interlocal jail services agreement with Bryan County

Assistant Chief Clark explained an interlocal agreement (C-2026-11) to continue detention services with Bryan County. Clark said the contract is essentially a renewal of the prior jail-services arrangement, with the only substantive change being price adjustment language tied to the Consumer Price Index and capped at 5% annually.
"This is just a jail contract renewal with Bryan County," Clark said, adding that the city attorney reviewed the agreement and found no issues. He noted the contract will automatically renew each year unless terminated per the agreement's terms.
Council members discussed termination language and the CPI cap; one council member characterized the agreement as "pretty straightforward" and said it seemed reasonable to have the capacity to house inmates locally. The council moved, seconded and approved the interlocal agreement.
