Darren, who presented the item, said the revised package replaces the previous offer of 50 free garbage bags and four recycle bins with two free months of garbage service that provide one garbage and one recycle bin. The package also includes a six‑month family pool pass and increases the park and recreation gift certificate to $150 from $50. Darren said the updated program had been discussed previously with the housing authority board and at the March 23 school board meeting.
If the council approves the resolution on the regular agenda (the Ways & Means committee moved it forward by consensus), the next step is to present the housing incentive package to the county for final approval of a proposed two‑year tax abatement, Darren said.
Councilors approved the resolution by roll call; the meeting transcript records the motion and the council’s vote, and the item will proceed to required county review as outlined by staff.
