Public commenter Roy Schwiker said the bus company provides a public service and urged the council to consider waiving rent or taxes so the lot could be used freely by residents; he said that if the bus company offered free parking it might reduce downtown parking pressure and merited consideration.
Councilors expressed general support for a public‑private partnership to address parking constraints; Councilor Fennessy called it a good way to utilize an underused piece of property and urged taking the revenue. The motion to approve the lease passed by voice vote.
