The superintendent said crews have regraveled about 47 miles of county roads and completed significant retrieving and gravel placement. “We got another 121,000 brought in from them. That'll be the final payment,” he said, reporting receipt of a final payment from the state Department of Transportation tied to an earlier grant-funded project.
Upcoming work depends on weather: the superintendent said the next project is to haul gravel from a northern borrow area to a dead-end lodge and regravel that stretch if rain allows. He also reported setting up training for crew members and noted a legal/administrative requirement that employees update health cards to keep Commercial Driver’s Licenses current by July 1. Commissioners agreed the county would cover the cost of training and licensing necessary to maintain CDLs.
The superintendent also mentioned routine maintenance adjustments, a spray-truck calibration check and some wiring repairs that were fixed prior to deployment.
No formal vote was required for routine maintenance updates; commissioners acknowledged receipt of the report and directed staff to proceed with scheduled graveling plans contingent on weather.
