Monroe Township Council voted on several ordinances and resolutions during its March 2, 2026 meeting.
Key votes - Ordinance 02206002: Adopted. This ordinance approves traffic-signal improvements for Applegarth Road and Joan Warren Way. The council held a public hearing, received no public comments, and approved the ordinance by roll call. - Ordinance 0220260003: Adopted as amended. This rezoning ordinance (see separate coverage) was amended at second reading (language regarding age-restricted occupancy was revised) and adopted following extended public comment. - Ordinance 02206004: Adopted. Limited text amendments were made to HD and R3A district language to align with state affordable-housing statutory language; staff characterized these as required statutory updates. - Ordinance 02206005: Adopted. The council repealed and replaced sections on affordable-housing development fees to conform with the amended state Fair Housing Act. - Ordinance 032026006: First reading carried. A bond ordinance appropriating $2,556,000 for capital improvements received first reading and will return for final adoption at a later meeting.
Consent agenda and resolutions The council approved the consent agenda of resolutions R3 202656 through R3 202675, with two items previously removed for separate consideration. Individual resolution details are available on the township website; staff noted that certain items (including the water/sewer bond cancellation noted elsewhere in discussion) free up previously authorized funds for reallocation.
What this means Most adopted ordinances update zoning, fees and infrastructure authority so that the township may proceed with engineered projects and to meet state-mandated affordable-housing obligations. Adoption of a zoning ordinance does not authorize construction; separate planning-board site-plan approvals are required before any building permits are issued.
