Albany County approves grant applications, vehicle purchase and several permits

At the meeting commissioners approved multiple administrative items including grant applications, vehicle purchases and event permits.
The board authorized staff to apply for a Mineral Royalty Grant from the Office of State Lands and Investment requesting $217,500 to purchase two pickup trucks for the fire warden and deputy fire warden; staff said the county may request 75% of project cost because assessed valuation is under the statutory threshold. Separately, commissioners approved a second related application and pledged $72,500 in matching funds from designated fire accounts for a fire warden vehicle project.
Commissioners also approved a memorandum to purchase a 2026 Jeep Compass for the Albany County supervised treatment program, funded with rollover SAMA federal funds and with maintenance costs covered by state funds for the adult drug court. Staff explained the vehicle would be used to transport participants to inpatient treatment and for limited in‑town transportation; a Johnson Auto Center quote was the lowest of several.
Other approvals included renewal of the county’s CivicPlus website hosting and catering permits for Roxy’s on Grand for the UW rodeo April 24–26 and for Delansancy Enterprises LLC for the University of Wyoming Day concert on March 6.
What’s next: Staff will submit the grant applications, arrange vehicle procurement consistent with grant rules, and continue routine permit and contract processing.
