Bayonne Board approves routine agenda; one abstention on two consent items

The Bayonne Board of Education approved the minutes of its Feb. 25 meeting and carried routine superintendent and business-administration items during a March 18 meeting at Henry Harris Community School.

President Desmond called the votes after motions were moved and seconded. The board recorded unanimous approval of the Feb. 25 minutes and of the superintendent’s curriculum and personnel recommendations (items A1–A7 and B1–B10). The board also approved the business-administration consent agenda (items C1–C16); one member abstained from items C6 and C9. Trustees recorded their attendance at roll call before the vote; Trustee Bashet and Trustee Gonzalez were recorded as absent for the meeting.

The meeting record shows Trustees Burke, Casayas, Gesi Rodriguez, Scane, Vice President Maio and President Desmond voting yes on multiple motions. The business-administration vote included an abstention on two specific consent items; the transcript records that the abstention was entered during the roll-call/vote sequence for the C-items.

No ordinances, appointments, or binding policy changes were recorded in public session beyond the approved consent items. The presiding officer closed the meeting after an announced public-comment period; a motion to adjourn carried and the board left the meeting at 6:24 p.m.
