Tulare County recognizes nearly 1,000 student entries in Farm Bureau art calendar awards

Tulare County supervisors and the Farm Bureau recognized elementary and high school students April 7 for the annual Farm Bureau art calendar, which the Farm Bureau runs in partnership with the Tulare County Office of Education.
Trisha Steever Blatner, outgoing executive director of the Tulare County Farm Bureau, said the contest drew nearly 1,000 entries from more than 35 schools and that the cover artist receives a $50 prize while other winners receive smaller cash awards. "We collected nearly 1,000 entries in February," Trisha Steever Blatner said as the board presented certificates to students from all five supervisorial districts.
County Superintendent of Schools Tim Hire and Farm Bureau partners joined supervisors in congratulating students who were invited forward by district. Supervisors presented certificates and the board took a group photo with honorees.
The program distributes copies of the printed calendar to county schools and recognizes student artwork that highlights local agriculture; Farm Bureau staff said additional calendars will be available at the Farm Bureau office and through the county Office of Education.
