Policy committee members told the board they drew language and examples from other districts to make the policy more specific and to reduce confusion about the difference between bullying and ordinary conflict. A committee member said the revised language provides clearer examples to guide staff and families.
A small editorial correction was raised during the meeting (the policy’s language used 'social exclusion' in one spot and was amended to read 'social isolation'), and board members agreed to bring related procedure documents and the bullying-report form (JICK-E1) back for a second reading so the committee can make additional wording edits. The board moved, seconded and passed the rewritten policy as amended.
Next steps: procedures that implement the policy will return for additional committee review and a second reading before full adoption.
