Administration presented recommended rental fees for new facilities at the April 6 board meeting and asked trustees for guidance on policy and philosophy ahead of a more comprehensive study. Melanie Brown and Chuck Fry explained the recommendation for the district's new turf field at Naperville North, detailed associated staffing costs and described the categories used to set different rates for nonprofit and for-profit users.
Staff said rental rates were last updated in July 2009 and that the district rarely rents to for-profit entities. The administration plans to return in 2027 with a full list of facilities, comparative data and proposals that reflect whether rates should simply break even or provide additional revenue. Trustees asked for visibility into rental volumes and whether particular rentals are subsidized by taxpayers so the board can weigh budgetary trade-offs.
No fee adoption vote occurred on April 6; staff requested direction on philosophy and promised further analysis and a calendar timeline for the 2026–27 planning cycle.
