Candidate Isaac Paxman announces run for Utah County commissioner; parks committee chair backs rec center bond

During the public comment period at the American Fork City Council meeting on May 12, Isaac Paxman introduced himself to the mayor and council and announced his candidacy for Utah County Commissioner. Paxman described his background serving as a deputy mayor in Provo, said he has support from some local elected officials, and left contact information for residents.
Scott Rabbush, identified as chairperson of the Parks and Recreation committee, told the council the committee supports placing a bond before voters for a new recreation center (or substantial improvements to the existing one). Rabbush said the committee believes there is enough community interest and need to pursue a full rec center and suggested that, if a full build is not possible, the ballot measure should secure sufficient funds for substantial upgrades.
The mayor and council thanked both speakers. The public comment period then closed and the council moved on to the city administrator’s report and the business agenda.
