The Smyrna Town Council ratified an employment agreement to hire Kyle Evans as the town attorney, filling the position vacated when longtime town attorney Jeff Peach ended his 30‑year tenure on May 1.
Council interviewed candidates in a special called meeting and negotiated terms with Evans, whose employment agreement council approved by motion. Evans addressed the council and described his background in law enforcement and municipal law, saying he looks forward to starting on June 2.
Council members welcomed Evans and thanked outgoing counsel for decades of service. The appointment moves forward immediately, and Evans and staff will complete onboarding and transition work in the coming weeks.
