Public hearings set on Pasco transportation plan update and proposed special-event permit changes

The Pasco City Council will hold two public hearings Monday: an annual update of the six-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and a proposed revision to the city’s special-event permit rules, the meeting preview said.
Communications coordinator Alyssa Warner said the TIP is a six-year planning document that Washington State requires be updated every year to ensure projects remain aligned with the city’s goals for driving, walking and biking.
Warner also described a separate public hearing on proposed special-event rule changes that city staff say would streamline the permitting process for gatherings ranging from sidewalk sales to all-day festivals. “This proposal would streamline rules for getting a special event permit for everything from a sidewalk sale to an all day festival,” she said.
Warner emphasized that public hearings provide residents the opportunity to speak to the council about specific items before final decisions are made. The preview noted the special-events rule revisions have been tracked through the development process with opportunities for public feedback at every step.
