Rome board rejects 2026 resurfacing bids, directs a reduced rebid to cut about $300,000

Following that recommendation, the board carried a motion rejecting the original bids. The clerk then read a subsequent resolution authorizing the city clerk to advertise for bids on a revised 2026 cold milling and resurfacing project (RFB-2026-005R); that motion also passed by voice vote.

The staff explanation indicates the city plans to reduce contracted line items and rely on more in-house work from DPW and the engineering department to lower costs.
