The Forestry Commission will supply a temporary fire‑tower operator assigned to the county unit; the contract allows either party to terminate on 30 days’ written notice. The forestry item was presented and approved during regular business by unanimous vote.
Reappointments: The commission reappointed two members to the Lower Chattahoochee Regional Transportation Authority. Commissioner Timothy Biddle was reappointed to a term expiring June 30, 2028 (resolution adopted June 4), and Commissioner Gerald Douglas was reappointed to a term expiring June 30, 2026. Both reappointments were approved by unanimous votes.
GA Hwy 520 roundabout grant: Commissioners approved acceptance of a roundabout grant that requires a 40/60 match; the county reported it would not pay more than $52,000 toward utility relocation costs if the project comes in at or above anticipated cost. The board approved the grant by unanimous motion.
Other administrative items: The board acknowledged the receipt of a $155,000 LMIG check and said it is applying for supplemental LMIG funds (minutes reference a total for both LMIG installments of roughly $350,000–$355,000). During the June 24 work session commissioners discussed solid‑waste bid responses (GFL, Jones Sanitation and Zero Waste) and planned to award that contract at the July regular meeting.
Each of the motions above was recorded in the minutes as passing unanimously. The board took these votes as routine administrative business while its major fiscal action for the month remained the adoption of the FY2025 budget.
