At the May 22, 2023 special meeting, resident Julianne Chard requested the city consider changes to the Washington Street and Madison Street intersection as part of the Chelsea POP/WATS program to address traffic and pedestrian-safety issues. Chard described specific traffic and safety concerns for that location and discussed possible interventions with council and staff.
Council and staff discussed several potential solutions; staff were asked to continue developing options and to return to council with a recommendation. Earlier in public comment, resident David Gilbert also raised concern about traffic on Washington Street near Madison Street and endorsed the proclamations on the agenda.
