Council authorizes up to $1.9 million for roadway resurfacing contract

The Weatherford City Council approved a contract authorizing procurement of pavement resurfacing services from Reynolds Asphalt & Construction through an existing Grand Prairie interlocal agreement for an amount not to exceed $1.9 million.
Public works staff said the work will cover several thoroughfares — including East Bankhead Drive, Foster Drive, Hilltop Drive and Adams Drive — totaling about seven lane miles. The contract also includes a residential component that will perform wedge milling and overlay in parts of the Bedinger subdivision and work on Grant Drive, which connects to Bankhead.
Staff noted one portion of the Bankhead project will be deferred because a scheduled water and wastewater utility project is planned for 2026; resurfacing on that section will be completed after the utility work. Public works said the selected residential streets are suitable for remove‑and‑replace treatment because the subgrade is intact.
Council members asked about coordination with utility work, expected start timing and how the city prioritizes roads. Staff said they use more frequent condition data collection and make data‑driven decisions about which roads to repair. The city hopes work could start in November, weather and workload permitting.
Heidi Wilder moved to approve the contract; the motion was seconded and carried.
