The Weatherford City Council on Oct. 28 approved preliminary and final plats for University Hills phases 3 and 4, a residential subdivision totaling 97 lots on about 39.61 acres.
City staff told the council the preliminary plat and final plats met subdivision‑ordinance requirements, including minimum lot sizes and on‑site conditions. Staff said the development will receive city water and sewer service while electric service will come from Tri County or Encore because the site lies outside the municipal electric service area.
Scott McDonald, a city staff presenter, described the layout and topography and noted a detention area shown as an HOA lot. Council members asked clarifying questions about the HOA lot and stormwater detention; McDonald confirmed the HOA area will hold the detention pond.
Council member Matt Tiscus made a motion to approve the preliminary plat (6a) which was seconded and carried. The council then voted to approve the final plat for phase 3 (6b) and for phase 4 (6c) in subsequent motions; each motion passed.
The approvals permit the developer to proceed with final engineering and lot recording subject to the conditions of the subdivision ordinance. The city will continue to coordinate utility connections for water and sewer, while the developer will work with Tri County or Encore for electric service.
The council took the votes during the consent‑agenda portion of the meeting; no additional public objections were recorded in the meeting transcript.
