Tri-Creek plans Title I literacy coaching after mixed third-grade assessment results

Presenters described the role as job-embedded professional development: providing targeted instructional coaching, ensuring consistent, evidence-based practices across grade levels, supporting MTSS (multi-tiered system of supports), and progress monitoring. The district emphasized the position will be fully supported by federal Title I funds and will not draw from the local education fund.
"One of the things research shows that moves the needle is instructional coaching," a district presenter said, urging trustees to focus the initial coaching resources in the two highest-need buildings. Board members asked about scope, sustainability and the condition that federal funding is not guaranteed indefinitely; administrators said the role is grant-funded and could sunset with federal funding but will be leveraged to build local capacity.
The motion to create the position passed on a voice vote. Administration said it will post the position, define duties, and bring implementation timelines and reporting back to the board in the fall.
