Tri-Creek board approves Chartwells contract, Lake County bus funding and Title I literacy coach

Lake County Councilman Randy Niemeyer told trustees the county is offering an interlocal agreement to provide up to $168,000 toward purchasing a school bus to serve unincorporated residents across the district nd urged approval; the board passed the interlocal on a voice vote. Niemeyer said the economic-development agreement that produced the funds requires a project-labor agreement and aims to direct benefits to the local workforce.
On staffing, the board approved creation of a Title I literacy coach, funded entirely with federal Title I funds and targeted to the district—losest high-need elementary schools (Oak Hill and 3 Creeks). District presenters said third-grade foundational reading scores (iRead) remain strong but more rigorous literacy measures (iLearn) show lower pass rates around the 40 nd 50 percent range; the coach would provide job-embedded professional development, coordinate evidence-based practices across grades and maximize Title I investment.
