Board hears first reading for special-education transition coach; approves new Rosen Middle School principal

The Cherry Hill Board of Education on Tuesday discussed a proposed transition-coach position at first reading and approved the appointment of Reginald (Reggie) Meadows as principal of Rosa Middle School.
Special education: Miss Stern (HR committee) said the transition coach would be a teacher-level position focused on supporting students with special needsparticularly those in autism-spectrum programsas they move from middle to high school and plan postsecondary transitions. The job was presented as aligning with the district's strategic priorities on inclusion and postsecondary planning; Miss Stern said the position is budget-conscious and intended to reduce out-of-district placements by strengthening in-district supports.
"This position specifically is intended to kind of bridge that gap ... helping with transitions and also help from middle school to high school and then beyond high school," Miss Stern said. The position was discussed in HR as a first reading; the board clarified that the vote on the position is scheduled for the next meeting (May 26).
Rosen Middle School principal appointment: In a separate HR action, the board approved the appointment of Reginald Meadows as the new principal of Rosa Middle School. Dr. Morton introduced Meadows and highlighted his two decades of experience, including recent roles as campus principal and co-principal in other districts. Meadows thanked the board and said he is "incredibly excited" to start in July and to learn from the Cherry Hill community.
Public reaction: Members of the special-education parent community (CPAG) spoke during second public comment to thank the board and administration for proposing the transition coach, calling it a big win for families who have long advocated for stronger transition supports.
Next steps: The transition coach position will return as an HR action item for a vote at the board's next meeting; the administration will move forward with principal-onboarding steps for Reggie Meadows.
