Buffalo Trace CASA reports 119 children served in 2025; asks Bracken County residents to volunteer

Marybeth Rudd, executive director of Buffalo Trace CASA, presented the program’s annual report to the Bracken County Fiscal Court and asked the county to help recruit volunteer board members.
Rudd said Buffalo Trace CASA served 119 children in 2025 across five counties — Mason, Bracken, Fleming, Nicholas and Robertson — and that 21 of those children were from Bracken County. She described CASA volunteers as dedicated advocates who are limited to one case at a time to ensure consistent, high-quality advocacy for children who have experienced abuse or neglect.
"Behind each of these numbers is a child who's experienced abuse and neglect and needed a consistent caring adult to stand beside them," Rudd said. She asked that anyone interested in serving on the CASA board provide a name and number so staff could reach out.
Court members expressed appreciation and the presiding officer asked members to consider local volunteers for the board. No vote was required for the presentation; Rudd thanked the court for its continuing support.
