Woodson County commissioners approve routine business, renew appraiser contract and sign $140,029.46 in vouchers

The Woodson County Board of County Commissioners met May 5 and approved a series of routine actions, including renewal of the county appraiser’s annual analysis contract and several personnel- and equipment-related expenditures.

Jessica Porter, Appraiser, presented an annual renewal contract with McCully and Associates for analysis work; Commissioner Justin Clark moved to allow the renewal and Kevin Stuber seconded. The motion passed. Later in the meeting Kevin Stuber moved to authorize the County Attorney's Office to purchase a Toshiba printer for $3,895 from the County Attorney budget; Justin Clark seconded and the motion passed.

David Waddell, Solid Waste, reported that he and an assistant completed hazardous-materials training and said the department needs a storage cabinet for household hazardous materials; Waddell said a state grant is available with a 60/40 match and presented two wage-change forms requesting a $0.50 hourly increase tied to hazardous-materials certification. Justin Clark moved to approve the $0.50 increases for Chris Lomon and David Waddell; Jerry Sedlacek seconded and the motion passed.

The board also approved routine procedural motions early in the meeting, including adopting the agenda and approving minutes from the April 21, 2026 meeting. At the end of the session the board signed vouchers totaling $140,029.46 and adjourned at 1:19 p.m.

Other administrative items discussed but not finalized included rental rules and repair updates for the Community Building and the Bressner Building, and a pair of contract options for the county's sheep auction—either a $300 monthly fee or $0.25 per-head fee—which commissioners asked staff to continue negotiating.
