Kenton County School District to move student registration online, district outlines access and privacy supports

Kenton County School District is shifting its whole student enrollment and annual update process into the Infinite Campus online portal, district officials said on the Inside the KCSD podcast.
"The information that is already entered into Infinite Campus is pulled into their application. They check it. They review it. They make only the necessary changes," said Todd Dupin, the district's director of Pupil Personnel. Dupin said that after staff processes updates they will automatically write into students' profiles.
District leaders said the change is intended to save time for families and staff. "It was more a matter of how much time parents are spending entering and updating data, providing acknowledgments and permissions for various things, as well as staff processing," Dupin said.
The district plans to keep the system mobile friendly. Dupin said the online registration can be completed on smartphones or tablets and that parents can upload photos of required documents. For households without reliable home internet, the district will set up kiosks at schools with support from the technology department and school staff so parents can complete and submit the application on site.
On privacy, Dupin described the portal as an encrypted, password‑protected site where information is tied to the student or household. "They can upload their personal information or their students' personal information and documents into that encrypted site," he said.
The online registration window opens July 7, 2026. Dupin said the district does not have a hard submission deadline but recommended families complete applications by the start of the school year so required beginning‑of‑year forms and permissions are processed and students are ready for day one.
Officials also said the district is exploring other digital communications tools to provide required information in one place, including district publications and social media, with the goal of streamlining family communications.
What this means for families: the district expects a faster, single‑location process for required forms and permissions; families without home internet will have in‑person options at schools. The district did not specify which schools will host kiosks, the number of kiosks planned, or the cutoff date the district will treat as the last day to submit before the start of school.
