City Clerk outlines candidate qualifying week, deadlines for Orange City elections

The City of Orange City clerk announced which council seats are up for election and the key deadlines candidates and voters need to know.
The clerk said seats include District 3 (term November 2026 through November 2028), a seat transcribed as "District 45," and an at-large council seat (term November 2026 through November 2030). The clerk said prospective candidates must complete several forms, including a campaign treasurer form, a statement of candidate and other qualifying paperwork.
"The best advice that I can give somebody is to make an appointment with the city clerk's office so that we can sit down and go through our election binder and make sure that they understand all the information and all the required forms," the clerk said.
Qualifying week runs from June 8 at 12:00 p.m. (noon) through June 12 at 12:00 p.m. (noon). The clerk told potential candidates to schedule an appointment with the clerk's office during that window to file the required documents.
Voters and candidates were directed to RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov to register to vote. The clerk also advised residents to find precinct information on the county Supervisor of Elections website at volusiaelections.gov.
Registration deadlines provided by the clerk are July 20, 2026, for the primary and October 5, 2026, for the general election. The clerk confirmed the primary election is scheduled for Aug. 18, 2026, and the general election for Nov. 3, 2026.
The clerk did not announce any motions, votes or changes to election procedures during the remarks. Staff said appointments with the clerk's office are available to review forms and answer candidate questions ahead of qualifying week.
