Director Brooks said the city’s comprehensive-plan update is still in the listening stage, and urged residents to complete an online survey and map ideas on the project website. "We have had over 260 people so far have completed the survey," Brooks said, and added that about 230 people attended recent listening sessions.
Brooks announced a temporary "What's Next Knoxville" headquarters at 30 Market Square where community members can speak with project team members during office hours. "We'll have office hours every Tuesday ... and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.," Brooks said, and noted staff will attend multiple pop-up events, including the Market Square Farmers Market and local festivals as part of outreach efforts.
The presentation outlined the public engagement schedule and solicited commissioners' help spreading the word; Brooks said staff hopes to post a full draft of the comprehensive plan this fall and hold additional public sessions then.
