The Board of Zoning Appeals approved a developmental variance for Hydro Extrusion USA to install a 7‑foot chain‑link fence topped with a strand of barbless wire at 3406 Reedy Drive. Paul Maykomber of Patriot Fence, representing the petitioner, said the fence and automated gates would create a single controlled entry and exit and keep pedestrians and the public safely separated from active loading operations. "It'll create a direction of entry and exit... and keep the public safely away from this area," Maykomber said.
Staff reviewed aerial photos and a site visit and recommended approval with a modification: to align the proposed fence with a 2015 truck scale that sits closer to the street, so only the portion that truly needs relief would remain in the front yard. Staff described outdoor storage encroaching into the front yard over time and said additional discussions could explore relocating materials on site to reduce front‑yard storage.
The board adopted staff’s recommended finding and approved the developmental variance; the petitioner was instructed to work with staff on the final alignment so the fence provides security without unnecessary front‑yard intrusion.
