Board adopts year‑end budget adjustments and temporary interfund transfer authorization

The Banning Unified School District board adopted multiple business‑service resolutions at its May 13 meeting to close out the fiscal year.

Clerk Trautman presented resolution 26‑016, described in the agenda as year‑end budget adjustments, and the board approved the measure by voice vote. The board also adopted resolution 27‑001, which authorizes temporary transfers between district funds for the 2026‑27 fiscal year to provide short‑term cash for programs that will be reimbursed later in the year.

Herrera, the district business‑services representative, told trustees the temporary transfer resolution is part of the annual process for programs that rely on later reimbursements. “This is a resolution as part of the annual process that allows for programs that rely on reimbursements later on in a year that need cash to borrow from the [general] fund in a temporary basis that would have to be repaid by the end of the year,” Herrera said.

The board also adopted resolution 27‑002 delegating administrative authority to process routine budget revisions and transfers. Trustees asked for clarification about the process for tracking transfers and for a public justification for certain expenditures listed in monthly fiscal reports; district staff said they would follow up on specific line items when requested.

All three business resolutions were approved by unanimous vote on the board floor.
