At the April 4 meeting the Council set Monday, May 16, 2022 as the public hearing date for the proposed City budget and millage for July 2022–June 2023, and separately set May 16 for a public hearing on utility rates; staff stated no utility-rate increase would be requested for 2022-23.
Council also formally named Councilmember Bill Ruddock as the designated council representative to the transition team created to assist the Acting/Interim City Manager and department heads. Additionally, the council approved submitting a 2003 International 7300 4x4 bucket truck to MIEDEMA's RangerBid online municipal auction scheduled April 19, 2022; the city will receive 100% of proceeds as auction fees are charged to buyers.
Why it matters: The hearings set the calendar for public input on the budget and utility rates; naming a transition-team representative institutionalizes council participation in manager transition planning; the auction clears surplus equipment and may generate revenue for the city.
Council action: All actions were approved by motions recorded in the minutes and carried with all ayes.
