Bluff building official resigns; town seeks replacement, arranges interim inspections

Bluff town staff announced that the town’s building official resigned on Friday, March 27, leaving the position vacant and prompting temporary inspection arrangements. Erin Nelson, town staff, said the job is open and applications are due Sunday, April 12, at 5:00 p.m., and that the role requires state-regulated certifications.
Nelson told the Planning & Zoning Commission that Blanding City will provide temporary emergency coverage for building inspections until Bluff hires a replacement. She said landowners should continue to follow the town’s building-permit process and contact the Bluff building department with plans for construction or renovation. Kristen Bushnell will continue to send building-permit tracking information to Bluff staff but does not plan to attend P&Z meetings in person.
The vacancy comes amid ongoing zoning-code work by the commission. Nelson did not provide a timeline for filling the position beyond the application deadline; she said the town will provide updates as the recruitment proceeds.
