Board schedules May 19 budget vote; approves routine items, tenure and a student Envirothon trip; honors retirees

The board then approved a trip for four senior‑high students to the New York State Envirothon competition in Cortland (May 27–28) after a motion and vote, and later approved tenure recommendations following a motion; both motions carried.
The meeting opened with wide recognition of retiring staff across departments. Named retirees and honorees included Karen Ryan (pupil services), multiple transportation staff (Doreen Benshopp; Michael Benshopp; Peter Deckard; Anne DeRuy; Richard Engert; Cynthia Peetz; Gerald Sensabaugh; Gerald Vaughn), Jane Galena (ECS), Nancy Williamson (ECS), Steve (third-grade teacher), Mary Ann Buckley, Steph O'Shell, Allison (Lisonbee) Sheridan, Anne Marie Scribe, Karen Erlin, Deb Palisano, Kim (Spitzer) and others named during building presentations; principals and colleagues thanked each honoree for district service.
Other routine business included approval of tenure items and calendar reminders: a budget workshop scheduled for May 28 and the regular June board meeting on Thursday, June 11. Trustees agreed to review July meeting scheduling to ensure a quorum and discussed the idea of rotating brief teacher highlights during campus-news time at a future workshop.
