Hoboken schools honor April Students of the Month

The Hoboken Board of Education meeting opened with student recognitions across district schools, where principals and student representatives highlighted academic achievement, leadership and extracurricular successes.
The May Hoboken Board of Education meeting began with Student of the Month recognitions for April across the district’s five schools.
Assistant Superintendent Sandra Rodriguez Gomez introduced honorees and invited principals from each school to present. Brand (elementary) recognized Emiliano Hernandez Solano for leadership and kindness; Emiliano’s principal highlighted his classroom engagement and community spirit. Conners School named third-grader Ari Rose Rohn for academic growth and exemplary behavior; Conners’ principal noted that Ari Rose’s math scores "have doubled" since the start of the year. Wallace Elementary presented Freya Mayers for consistent academic progress and leadership. Hoboken Middle School’s Natalie Kim was honored for strong effort, acclimating after a recent transfer from Korea, and participation in debate and STEAM activities. Hoboken High School’s Charles (Charlie) Stroup was recognized for high grades, participation in AP classes and the biomedical program.
Student government and representative reports followed. Hoboken Middle students Amaya Sorett and Emily Hagney shared recent trips, the Tiger 4 Day orientation for incoming fifth-graders and performance highlights. Hoboken High student-government representative Jenna Serio described senior activities, prom plans and ongoing AP testing.
Board members congratulated the students and thanked families and staff. Photographs and brief remarks punctuated the recognitions, and the meeting moved on to committee reports and the evening’s business.
