At its meeting the Big Sky School District board approved several personnel and governance items, certified election results reported by Gallatin County and completed leadership appointments.
A trustee moved to approve a one-year unpaid leave of absence for a music teacher (the board noted the teacher will continue some responsibilities such as the warm pack). The board also approved a wellness coordinator position to be funded through the adult education fund and supplemented by a private donor to cover the student portion of the contract. The supervisor of adult education and trustees described the role as supporting faculty and students in physical and nutritional wellness and strength and conditioning.
The board approved purchase and routine consent items including buying a stove for the building and MSA activities/dues for FY27. Trustees certified local election results provided by Gallatin County (the transcript notes 873 ballots in the specific race described, with 547 votes for one candidate and 326 for another) and then swore in newly elected trustee Matt Dunn.
On staffing, trustees appointed Grace Benson (listed in some materials as Grace Young) to a speech FTE for 2026—27 and discussed the correct motion language for FTE hire conventions. The board also appointed Matt Jennings as chair, Matt Dodd as vice chair and Libby Grebo as district clerk and approved committee assignments.
All listed motions passed during the meeting; most votes were recorded as unanimous except where the transcript recorded dissent in separate items described elsewhere.
Next steps: staff will circulate appointment paperwork, post the certified election documentation as required, and return with any further administrative follow-up as needed.
