The board voted to pilot Amplify English Language Arts for grades 4 through 6 and took the first of two steps to adopt Amplify Math in grades 4K through 5 while piloting sixth grade, moving both curricula closer to full adoption.
A trustee moved to approve the Amplify ELA pilot for the 2026—27 school year; the board took the vote and the motion passed unanimously. Trustees said teachers researched the materials and that principals had reviewed them; the Superintendent said the materials will be on display to the community for 30 days before a final adoption vote.
On math, the board approved the first of two votes to adopt Amplify Math in grades 4K through 5 and as a pilot in grade 6. Trustees referenced prior assessment data showing the math materials are worth pursuing. "The assessment data shows that it's It's worth doing," one trustee said during discussion.
Both items move on a timeline that includes community review: after today's approvals the materials will be available for a 30-day public inspection period; trustees indicated they expect to return for final votes in July or the next scheduled meeting following the public display period.
Next steps: district staff will publish the curriculum materials for the 30-day review period, notify families, and return with the second readings and a recommendation for full adoption.
