Assistant to the city manager Griffin Whelan said the staff plans to pursue the full $25,000,000 award the program allows and that the application would focus on implementing the previously discussed safety action plan and advancing the Pecos Freight Village concept.
Whelan described the grant application as a continuation of work the council approved in an earlier meeting and said the in‑kind match contribution would include land at the freight village location. Council members confirmed the correct resolution number and voted to approve the staff recommendation.
