The Levy County School Board approved a request to terminate an employee after district personnel and the sheriff’s office investigated an allegation of an inappropriate relationship with a student.
A district administrator (speaker 12) told the board the district received notice of the allegation and that the sheriff’s office and the director of personnel had investigated and determined the reported conduct occurred. The employee was arrested and placed on unpaid administrative leave, the administrator said. The speaker asked the board to approve termination; a motion to terminate Mr. Sapp was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The presenter said the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) was notified and that the board chair and superintendent will complete a final order placing the employee on the disqualification list so the person will not be eligible for hire in any school district in the state of Florida.
Board discussion during the motion was brief and procedural. The actions taken at the meeting were a personnel termination vote and direction to complete administrative and reporting steps to state authorities; no additional case materials were made public during the session.
