The Danbury Board of Awards voted unanimously May 22 to award the sealed bid for custodial services for city buildings to Preferred Cleaning at a quoted cost of $31,627 per month.
Sean Hanley, superintendent of public buildings, moved to award the contract and said he had spoken with Preferred’s representative about staffing and transition plans. “He assured me that he is comfortable having enough staff,” Hanley said, adding the company has grown since its last bid and plans to use staff familiar with city buildings. Hanley described steps for transition, including background checks, key and badge handoffs, and on‑site staging of equipment to speed the changeover.
