Mayor reports GOMESA grant progress and multiple city projects at March meeting

Mayor Mark Barlow provided a series of updates at the March 24, 2026 Satsuma City Council meeting, reporting progress on grants, capital projects and public events.
Barlow said the appraisal for the GOMESA grant has returned and Phase I of that project is complete; he said he will provide a further update at the next council meeting. He reminded officials that the Statement of Economic Interests filing deadline is April 30.
The mayor announced the sidewalk project is out for bid, with bids closing on April 21. He also said the city is pursuing a $2,500 250-year celebration grant, and that the loan closing for police vehicles is scheduled for April 2.
Other items included plans for a boat safety event at Steele Creek Lodge (date to be announced), scheduled railroad track work in late March and early April, and near-completion of the Wright Park concession stand. Barlow asked the city attorney and building official to coordinate on a cul-de-sac matter on Dale Drive, and said Frasier Lanier will attend an upcoming workshop to discuss city needs.
These updates reflect routine administrative work and planning; the council did not take separate votes on the mayor’s informational items during the meeting.
