Marathon High School has submitted a proposal to name its football field in honor of Michael H. Pudo, a Marathon High graduate and long‑time volunteer and booster, district staff told the board.
Deputy Superintendent Acevedo presented the request and said the student government, school principal and staff provided letters of recommendation. "They would like to name their football field in honor of their Marathon High graduate, Michael H. Pudo," Acevedo said, noting the district will bring the item back as an action item at the January 27 board meeting in Marathon so the board can consider approval.
The district said it will forward the recommendation letters to board members for review before the January meeting. No action was taken at the December meeting; the item was introduced to give the board advance notice.
Next steps: public materials and recommendation letters will be provided to the board ahead of the January 27 meeting where the naming request will be considered.
