At the Feb. 12 meeting the Gardendale Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved two procedural land‑use items. Commissioners granted JN Investments, LLC a one‑year extension for the revised preliminary subdivision plat for The Townes on Main (sites at 601 Main Street and 111 Minor Road) after representative David Null said the project had a March 2 final day and an anticipated April 2 closing.
Separately, the commission approved a resurvey for the Regional Training Institute to combine Lot 1 and two acreage parcels at 916, 914 and 922 Grubbs Avenue to accommodate a proposed single‑story training building for advanced EMTs and paramedics. John Morrow, RTI's representative, described plans to locate the building near an existing chain‑link fence at the south campus of Gardendale First Baptist Church and said RTI would use some classroom space at the church campus. The commission approved the resurvey by motion from Alvin Currington, seconded by Richard Bradley.
Both approvals are preliminary procedural steps; project engineers and applicants must submit civil plans, stormwater and permitting documentation and obtain sign‑offs from the city engineer and department heads before construction permits would be issued.
