Board approves articulation agreement with South Florida State College for Hardee High nursing pathway

The Hardee County School Board approved, as part of its consent agenda on May 14, an articulation agreement between Hardee High School’s health-science/nursing program and South Florida State College that will allow students who complete high-school certifications to earn college credit.
Meredith Durstani, the district’s CTE director, introduced college representatives and thanked the board for considering the agreement. Dr. Capo and Dr. Bobo of South Florida State College described development of the pathway over several years and characterized the current agreement as a minimal but important start that can grow with additional addenda. Instructor Peyton Godwin and others noted students were actively completing certifications and an upcoming pinning ceremony was scheduled for May 22 at 6 PM at the Civic Center.
Board members praised the partnership as particularly valuable in a rural community where local pathways to postsecondary education and careers can fill workforce needs. The consent agenda — which included the articulation agreement among other items — passed by voice vote.
