Hardy High solar go-kart team honored by school board

Students and coaches from the Hardy High solar go-kart team were recognized May 14 for their competition performance and long-running program; coaches thanked volunteers and local donors who supported equipment, trailers and travel.
The Hardee County School Board recognized the Hardy High solar go-kart team at its May 14 meeting, inviting students and coaches to the front of the meeting and presenting a certificate of appreciation.
Coach Mr. Beatty told the board the team has competed since about 2011 and credited returning student leaders, volunteer coaches and community partners for recent improvements. "We've been doing the solar go kart for about 2011, I believe," Beatty said, and he thanked the Hardy Education Foundation and Southern Graphics for assistance with a new trailer and wrap.
Mr. Tubbs and other staff praised the students' dedication and noted several team members are also successful in track and other school activities. The board took a group photograph with the team and encouraged continued support as the program seeks to grow participation.
The recognition was ceremonial; no formal board action beyond the photo and certificate presentation was recorded.
